got an interesting one for you. first, the setup.
xp professional
dragon plus! w/latest bios.
amd xp1700
munchin(sp) pc2100 512mb
ibm & seagate hard drives in pullout bays
ati 7000 video card
tdk 12X burner
toshiba 8x dvd

as of this morning my computer would not boot. no video signal, nothing. but the drives and board are receiving power...i can tell my the lights, fans, and the drives spinning. i first reseated the video card. nothing. next, put in another video card. nothing. next, cleared the cmos. nothing. next, unhooked everything except memory, video card, and processor. again, no video. i might also add that i'm not getting any post beeps. next, i tried something interesting. i took the memory out expecting to hear some beeps. nothing. no beeps at all. i don't have any other ddr memory to test with, but this seems pretty strange.

any suggestions?

thank,
k

I would try a different power supply, even if it doesn't have the P4 12 volt connector just to see if it will post. If you live in the austin area, I will give you one to try. It's been in the trunk of my car awhile; meaning to donate it to goodwill.

since you said everything connected to your MB seems to be receiveing power and because this worked fine before hand, I would say it's either the cpu having a problem or the MB, but I'm thinking it's the cpu because a dead cpu will have no beeps but everything else might seem fine or perhaps the cpu got loose, but that's a long shot. I suggest you try to borrow a cpu from a friend or try your cpu in a friend's computer.

so no hd light activity either ? i know what you mean about the beeps , i have 2 of those mb, but are you sure it's not a loose cable\dead moniter ?
good luck

About a month after I got my Dragon+, that started happening to me too. Every time I shut off my computer, when I tried to turn it back on, I got the lights (HDD, power, and CD) but nothing would work. I found that if you clear your CMOS, PLUS remove the MB battery for about 45 minutes and take out the power cord, it boots back up, but you have to redo your BIOS settings. Since then, I just leave it running 24/7, and reboot it every day. A MAJOR hassle....
