I just received the items I needed to build another computer. Everything hooked up. No video, no beeps, nothing. Light is on at the other end of MB, and all fans powered by MB are turning. Video card works in another computer. I've reseated memory, but I should get a beep at least without memory correct? I have no way of verifying CPU. I purchased the board through newegg, and I've already filed an RMA on the board.

FYI the rest of the equip:

2 x 256 pc 2100 ddr from crucial
AMD 1600 xp--no way to test
radeon 7500--verified in another computer
2 x WD 60 gig---tried without, same thing
SB live---tried without, same thing

try it with one ram stick, cpu, and video, and being able to make sure the cpu wasn't DOA would be good. i'm leaning more towards the cpu issue.

Well, Soyo says that no beeps = processor and mobo not talking to each other. I have the dragon plus, and I haven't had this problem, but since the indication from my manual indicates it's a processor communications problem, I would try reseating the CPU, making sure it's down all the way and not tilted weird or anything. Then see if there's some way to test and see if the CPU is dead...could be either the board or the chip. Sure you didn't crack it with the heatsink?

Well seems everyone's gettin DOA's huh??
Well you've really shot the gun once you got this PC huh? Here's a few pointers.
Make SURE the Power Supply is AMD Approved for the motherboard. (get ANTEC or Enermax, expensive but way worth it)
Take out ALL cables, only a BARE motherboard, 1 DIMM slot of RAM, CPU and FAN, and Video card.
Take the motherboard OUT of the ATX case, and Place it over the Anti Static Bag it came in.
I must stress that Power Supply (it might seems that Lights blink and stuff, but any power supply will do that) must be suitable for the AMD chip, and motherboard.
Plug in the Power SW, SPEAKER, monitor then Press and Pray.
This had done the trick for me a few times before, so good luck.

I have an Antec ps-840. I seriously doubt it's a power related problem. I read in the manual that soyo should beep if the MB and CPU are working. I've pulled the CPU out and it "looks" fine. the HSF went on fairly easy, and the CPU really dropped nicely into place. I disconnected the MB from the case, and put it on it's side so as not to be able to ground out on anything. I tried to boot up with only the CPU, 2 sticks of memory, and the Video. I may try my duron 700 in the MB to check if that makes a difference. The HSF on that one is more difficult to put on though. I will try reseating the CPU, one stick of memory and the video onto the M/B with the antistatic bag underneath tonight.

Sounds like you didn't hook up the fan to fan header 1. You will need a 3 pin fan connector ensure it's on header 1.

If you do not have that hold the insert key down while powering up.

I have seen literaly over 50 people rma this board because of this.. All they had to do was read the manual. I hope it helps you out.

Let me know how it goes.

(EDIT)
I just re-read your message... That actually sound more like what happens when you try and use registered ram or incorrect ram.. What are you using?

I am using unbuffered pc2100 ddr from crucial. It's brand new, but no way of testing it. I really think it's the board. I'm sending it back to newegg so they can check it out. As far as the fan being hooked up...you have to have the cpu fan hooked up, which I do. I didn't try the insert key thing, but it's too late now.
