Soyo Dragon+ and EAX support

using the Soyo Dragon Plus with C-Media built-in sound... I THOUGHT this chipset supoorted EAX, but I've been having some problems in games whenever I enable EAX.

Certain sounds are produced (randomly) some music will just stop playing, I get static/crackiling outta speakers... all completely random.
If I turn EAX off, all is fine.

Latest drivers from Soyo so Im at a loss.
 
I am having problems with the C-Media chip and EAX as well. Tribes 2 and Serious Sam use it fine but I can't enable EAX effects in the copy of Giants that I have.
