hi all..I'll be buying a new motherboard soon, and I narrowed it down to either a BE6-2 rev 2 (ata 100 controller) or the Soyo 6BA +IV.
A buddy of mine recently got a BE6-2, and we tried my MC1001 Peltier setup in it, and it blocks off 2 Dimm slots..not too cool IMO (I run 2x128 meg dimms)

so my question is, how much room is there between the slot and the first dimm slot on the motherboard? the cooler works great in my Bx6R2 which has about 4 inches between the slot and the first dimm...from where the slocket mounts in the cooler, I'd need about 3 inches minimum to clear the first dimm slot..

so, I guess what I'm asking is could someone measure this on their board for me, I'd appreciate it alot...

My first Question is what is a soyo 6BA+100?? I have a 6ba+IV and I have a ALPHA PAL6035 on my celeron and it blocks a full memeroy slot if this is any help to you. If there making a soyo 6BA with 100 ATA I would pass on the extra money it cost cause it wont do any better than the ATA 66.

its Soyo's new board, basically a 6BA +IV with the ATA100 raid controller (highpoint 370) on it..I can get one for about 95 off of pricewatch, about the same as a 6BA +IV. also, I think I noticed that the 6BA +100 has 4 dimm slots, if 1 is blocked, that is ok

2 1/2 inches from the center of the slot 1 to the center of Dimm 1.

No Problem. And don't forget that, despite what the manual says, you do not need to put your first dimm in the first dimm slot. I have two 128mb dimms: one in slot 3 and one is slot 4 and have no stability problems...
