Does anyone take soy protein as a suppliment for working out? If so, where do you buy it from? I want to move over to soy from whey but I am having a hard time finding good places to buy it from.

I want to move to soy mainly so that I am not taking in all of the cholesterol that is in whey. Most of the whey I have seen has a fair amount of cholesterol and it is something that I would like to trim out. Not that I have high cholesterol but after my dad had a heart attack I am a little more cautious.

I have a 4lb container from GNC.

That being said it tastes terrible and I have heard bad things about GNC's quality.

You can get 2lb increments from bulknutrition.com and dpsnutrition.com. Optimum Nutrition brand.

whey's supposed to be the best form of protein youc an get....soy supposedly has some nasty side effects like male breasts, etc.

as for choleserol, it isn't really that much relatively... unless you're drinking like 5 portions a day...

you'd have to drink 9 portions of whey protein just to equal the amount of chol in a large egg.

Q: How much fat and cholesterol are in whey protein?

A: BiPro whey protein isolate contains less than 0.5 grams of fat per serving and only 5 milligrams of cholesterol. It is a healthy choice for individuals on a reduced fat diet. The American Heart Association standards suggest you limit cholesterol intake to less than 300 milligrams per day.

Soy in moderation is fine. If you taking in a gallon of soymilk a day, there may be a problem. I include soy foods/drinks in my diet and probably take in about 60-70 of soy protein a week.

2 Liters of soymilk a week
3-4 Tofu dishes per week

Well some whey proteins have as much as 15% of the daily value. Also, is there really a need for the name calling?

I've heard the same about Soy is that it raises estrogen levels. That isn't a problem unless you want bigger boobies! :D

We are just trying to help. Name calling gets the point accross better. :)

Stick with Whey. Everything I have ever read (a ton of sources) say that whey is much superior to Soy.

The Cholesterol is quite low in whey compared to a standard diet. Your father probably ate red meat and high fat hamburger everyday of his life.

Why would you ever want soy protein over whey? Whey is clearly better, and it won't cause you to have boobs or massive gas.
