This. I've gotten some pretty cheap fares through AirTran in the past.

It means southwest is finally thinking of flying to Hawaii and international routes. Since airtran I believe holds those certificates.

Wonder if that means I can actually get decent rates to NY from here. Eh, prolly not. Decent rates + Air travel don't exist anymore.

Why?

Southwest is one of the best values for flying.
Also these 2 are very small in the grand pool of airlines. Much bigger ones have been allowed to merge so I doubt this will be stopped.

Eh, I wouldn't miss Southwest airlines if it got nuked in the orbit. Maybe they should rename themselves "crying babies, loud kids and teenager airlines". You couldn't pay me to fly them.

I'd rather get upgraded and stay in airline lounges. I guess that makes me a snob.
