I am certain that the game is a riot, but I just have to agree with others saying that this just should not be a 60 dollar game. When it comes down to 30-40, perhaps I'll bite.

Then again this just may be a game that I can get used, as its not an online thing or Multiplayer...

I don't see the problem with this game being $60. It has a story that is supposed to last about 12-14 hours, and 4 playable character types that from the sound of it, play very differently. Seems to me like you get plenty for the $60 price.

Way to put me in my place.

Earthbound. Perfect comparison. How did I not see that?

Apparently my sarcasm meter is broken, so I am not sure how to respond. :p

Lot's of crazy Earthbound moments, maybe not SP-esqe, but close...I think of recent GTA titles as essentially RPGs too, and those are a blast. Humor and RPGs can be pretty awesome. :)

Saw an interview with Matt Stone and Trey Parker about the game. They were very frustrated with the dev cycle, but they had a pretty awesome vision for the game. They mapped the entire city (above ground and below) in 3D and wanted the game to take center stage. I'm looking forward to it, for sure. If you like SP, or just good humor poking-fun at RPG staples/cliches, it should be a blast.

Edit: Metacritic (for what it's worth) has it rated pretty highly...

Was being serious. Totally forgot about Earthbound, that was a perfect comparison.

:D

Comedy in video games is a lot like in the movies. It has to be done REALLY well to work at all. Writing, story, and timing are all critical. I am hoping SP meets that lofty goal. :)

After thinking back to Earthbound, I really want to play that again now. LOL

when the commercial for this came on last night i asked my wife if i bought this game would she watch me play it (she never watches me play games) because it is basically a really long episode of south park. she said she would watch me play it so i'm thinking of possibly snagging this for 360 possibly. all weekend i just heard people talking about how hilarious/great this game is.

The guys in the PCG thread are absolutely raving about it. Aside from a few control issues, it seems to be insanely fun. I plan on waiting a bit for the price to go down, but I will definitely be grabbing it.

I picked it up on wednesday and beat it over the weekend. This game did something that most games rarely do, it made me jump back in for a second playthrough right away.

Now we just need an HD version of Beavis and Butthead in Virtual Stupidity and I'll be happy.
