I'm from Texas and I hate hearing those songs. I don't even listen to them ever and I've still heard it a million times.

what's the farthest north i can find a decent chicken-fried steak?

I don't know, but I've been living in Indianapolis for the past 8 years, and I can tell you one thing with certainty: Any time they advertised "Southern Fried _______" around here, it's awful.

I'm still hoping somebody up here will discover spices. And then maybe someone will discover make-up...but that's another story.

The very idea of chicken fried steak causes me to wretch

Chicken fried steak is delicious. I had never had it until I went to Maryland, but it's good stuff.

<holds up lighter> FREEBIRD! WOOO! <tumbles over fan sitting in front of me>

Always good to see a post from Rio, even if his neck is a little crimson. 🙂

Change the chorus lyrics a bit and it becomes a decent song

F you Alabama,
Go to hell Crimson tide

At least that's how we sang it in school 😉

Southern Man

lol beat me to it

I hope Neil Young will remember...a Southern man don't need him around, anyhow. 😉

I guess I understand the "overplayed" aspect...I'm originally from Mississippi (but a lifelong Bama fan), and I heard WAY too much Elvis growing up.

Now that I'm living in Ohio after spending the last 15 years in Alabama, I do kinda like Sweet Home Alabama.

War Damn Eagle! 😉

headed to the A-day game this weekend? I can't make it b/c my bud's woman scheduled his wedding Saturday... insane.

lolz...seems everyone is having a decent Friday...I figured there would be one person blowing an artery and giving me the history of rock.

🙂

I can't make it to A-day...but I'll be checking out the news from up here.

Nice to see some auburn fans join in. I want ya'll to know that I've always supported internet connections at the public libraries, and if you want to get some public funding to put wi-fi in the trailer parks, I would support that, too. The agricultural perspective is important.

I just couldn't think of how I would have missed Van Halen doing that.
