South Park Fractured But Whole

I'm curious if anyone is picking this game up. I never got Stick of Truth but always had wanted it and just kind of forgot about it, and apparently it comes with the full game of the original too.

Those who played the first one, how "RPG" is it? From reviews it doesn't seem like it's a hardcore RPG or anything. From videos it looks like you're basically playing a long episode of South Park and doing RPG things here and there.

I recently played Golf Story on Switch and that's the first RPG I've played in years and I loved it. It's very light on RPG elements though and doesn't have any battles, but instead has golf matches. The side quests and stuff were very enjoyable and I liked the story and atmosphere of the game and it had a great charm.

I'm debating picking this up when I get my PS4 Pro tonight and was just curious about other people's thoughts on it or if they were planning on purchasing it.

Also, are there any sites that list the differences in games that are on PS4 Pro vs. normal PS4?

I'm getting it for PC once I find out how buggy or not it is. (Pre release review versions were very buggy.)

Stick of truth is like a perverted paper Mario game.

I had gotten stick of truth a coupe of years ago. It was ok but I think I am just too old for this type of humor.

I ended up buying it last night from Amazon, it arrives tomorrow. I read a lot of impressions from players yesterday on forums and most people seem to really enjoy it.

I talked to Amazon chat asking about the no more 20% off new released and they ended up giving me (when it ships) a 25% credit so essentially I'll have it for $45, and it includes SOT so I can't really complain.

Played for 2 hours last night. The game is pretty cool. I never played Stick of Truth so I don't have anything to compare it to. I liked how you can set the combat difficulty low if you want, which I did, because I'm not the biggest fan of turn based combat RPG games, but the battles are not very often so far and they are pretty comical because of all the shit talked back and forth. The writing is pretty damn hilarious in this game and I've LOL'd a few times. My favorite part about it is just being able to explore South Park and be in the world lol. So far so good.

This game is fucking fantastic. It's one of those games that I never want to put down. It's just so well done. The production values on it is incredible. I am laughing my ass off at many parts of the game as well. I'm 10 hours in and I think I'm like 1/2 done with the game. It's pretty long from what I've heard.

And I hate RPG's.

How does it compare to The Stick of Truth, for anyone who has played both? That game was incredible. Does it still have that Super Mario RPG style combat like Stick of Truth?

I've never played SoT but plan on playing it since it came with this for free, once I finish this and then Mario. I don't remember Mario RPG really either so can't compare, but the battles are on a grid system and turn based, but you pick and choose who you attack and stuff based on where you can move. You can also pick the difficulty of battle on the first one, and change it later if you want. I have it on easy mode just so I can get through them, but they are fun and entertaining because the attacks are funny and cool, and they talk shit the whole time.

By Super Mario RPG style battling I meant being able to time your hits. Eg if you did Mario's jump attack and timed your button press just right Mario would bounce straight up for a second jump attack. Or if you timed his punch right he would deliver a second one. Getting that timing down was pretty critical in Stick of Truth combat (but it's easy). Stick of Truth felt like playing through a season of the show. You can tell Matt Parker and Trey Stone were heavily involved in the game.
