South Korea set to "revise" high school books by removing examples of evolution.

Mention creationism, and many scientists think of the United States, where efforts to limit the teaching of evolution have made headway in a couple of states1. But the successes are modest compared with those in South Korea, where the anti-evolution sentiment seems to be winning its battle with mainstream science.

A petition to remove references to evolution from high-school textbooks claimed victory last month after the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) revealed that many of the publishers would produce revised editions that exclude examples of the evolution of the horse or of avian ancestor
Archaeopteryx. The move has alarmed biologists, who say that they were not consulted. “The ministry just sent the petition out to the publishing companies and let them judge,” says Dayk Jang, an evolutionary scientist at Seoul National University.

The campaign was led by the Society for Textbook Revise (STR), which aims to delete the “error” of evolution from textbooks to “correct” students’ views of the world, according to the society’s website. The society says that its members include professors of biology and high-school science teachers.

It's pretty pathetic how popular evangelical christianity has become in an otherwise advanced country like Korea.

I am glad to see a nation come to its senses.

There is a reason why its called the "theory" of evolution.

Have you ever heard about the "theory" of gravity? How about germ "theory?"

You just advertised your own mind-boggling ignorance to the world.

here we go again....

I know it would bother you if I informed you that large swaths of your genome are composed of ancient viral DNA, and that it would do little service in explaining what a disservice to human achievement your bronze-age views of reality would do if imposed en masse, so I won't.

TH is anti-vaccine and anti-antibacterial. And anti-knowledge. anti-reality, etc....

don't even bother.

Conclusion: pastafarian fo life. Blessed are those touched by his noodly appendage. Ramen.

I will not bother explaining to you how there are massive holes in the theory of evolution, especially when it comes to the originals of homo sapiens.

Scientist can not even agree where the oldest human remains come from, much less where the red deer cave people came from.

How does evolution explain the DNA of a group of people suddenly appearing in the fossil record, with no relationship to anything seen in Africa? How do you explain a group of people just "appearing" in the fossil record? The only group of people that have any DNA shared with the Red Deer Cave people are in New Zealand or New Guinea.

Oh wait, since we are still learning about evolution who knows what we might discover in 100 years.

Lets wait again, if we do not know everything, why should evolution be considered fact?

You are beyond ignorant. You are dumb

How do you explain a group of people appearing in the fossil record, and with no DNA shared with other prehumans?

Just "poof" and there they are. How does evolution explain that?

do you even understand how the fossil record works?

You do realize, don't you, that the record is entirely dependent on an extremely fortunate set of circumstances--fossilized remains. Not only that, they have to be found.

To call this a "hole" or a "flaw" in one (very small) piece of the enormous puzzle, is not simple ignorance: it is absolute willful stupidity.

The DNA record, however, is incontrovertible. Simple logic dictates the fact of evolution.

Which part or parts of evolution do you disagree with?
Obviously some parts are pure fact, like we can observe germs evolving.
Then there's forced evolution through things like selective breeding, not to mention genetic modification (a more advanced form of selective breeding). All of which we can see and observer quite clearly even in modern times.

So do you disagree with the concept of evolution, or do you disagree with the application of the facts we know relating to evolution, which can be proven and observed, to the development of humans?

To accept something as fact when we do not fully understand it, is willful ignorance.

DNA is fact, it has been scientifically proven.

Why do groups like the Red Deer Cave People share no DNA with any other group of the fossil record?

Even the history of Homo Sapiens is in dispute. Homo Sapiens just appears in the fossil record. Did we come from deep in Africa, or closer to Israel, or did we come from China?

Life is supposed to have originated from Africa, but recent discoveries in China are conflicting with those theories.

I am not disputing evolution.
