South Florida or San Diego to move?

Hey everyone. I'm still deciding about moving to either San Diego or South Florida. I have family in San Diego, but my dad just bought a condo in Pompano Beach, Florida - so they're in both places now. I'm looking to become an insurance agent. It seems like San Diego has a really strong economy, but home prices are really expensive. Florida prices are much cheaper. I like the weather in San Diego a lot, but i think that i will also like the hot, humid weather of florida.
 
Well i grew up in Coral Springs, FL (just west of Pompano Beach) and i loved it over there. Im on the other coast now in Sarasota, FL (just south of Tampa) and i hope to move back to the Ft. Lauderdale area once i graduate from law school. Check out Coral Springs though, its a nice city.

Can't speak for San Diego though, only went over there on a day trip from LA once 🙂
 
I used to go to school in South Florida and it's a really nice place. Can get quite hot but as long as you're indoors things should work out fine.
 
I was just down in Florida in the area where aphex is and it truely is a beautiful place with tons of people.
 
I'm from SD but I just got back from Florida and I think both would be good. It really comes down to cost of living vs. humidity.

as a floridian, I vote florida. I use to have a relative who lived in Pompano Beach. It's a nice area. Winters are much warmer in Florida than in California. San Diego is nice too.
 
San Diego in a heartbeat!

Florida blows. It's constantly raining, 100% humidity, and 95 degrees. Everything is a dirty brownish color. The whole place is a giant swamp filled with giant insects and lots of lizards. It's also jsut about the flattest place on earth.

San diego is always sunny, 75 degrees, doesn't rain all summer and it's never humid. The beaches are nicer, the landscape is more interesting. The roads are better. They don't even have left turn lanes in Florida!

I'm from California, and I spent about 6 weeks around the West Palm Beach area in Florida and I never want to go back. On the other hand, San Diego has probably the most perfect weather and climate in the country.
 
I live in north county coastal San Diego. Climate can't be beat but traffic and home prices are outrageous. If you do move here I would recommend finding a place to live that is close to where you work. I am lucky enough to live 12 miles from where I work.

I own a 2,200 sq. ft. 4 bedroom 3 bath home but I could not afford to buy my house if I were in the market right now.

how convenient you leave out spring break! better beaches? if you're a guy, your balls will shrivel to the size of prunes when you get into that frigid pacific water. I've been to San Diego before, it's a nice place. It would be second on my list of places I'd live in the USA (I'm a serious COLD weather hater)

Frigid San Diego water? San Diego has perfect water. Going in the water in Florida is like jumping in a hot tub on a 100 degree day. It's not refreshing at all. The water's almost as warm as the air is.

water where I live is 89 or 90 in the summer. it's perfect. the water temp in the winter is what your water temp is in the summer.

I surf here in San Diego. Water gets up to the very low 70s for about a week or two in the summer and down in the low 50s in the winter. You cannot go in the water for very long in the winter without a wetsuit. I've had my feet go numb after being exposed for about an hour and a half in December. Booties cures that though. Best surf in the continental US is on the west coast though!

Most of the year the water is in the low to mid 60s. Not exactly warm.
 
Florida.

My reasons:

1. Cheaper to live in than CA.
2. Great SCUBA diving, even better diving a few hours south. (Pacific is ice cold, even around San Diego)
3. They would let me keep my gun collection.
 


The water temp is much better in Florida year round. San Diego is only nice in the summer.

Wouldn't it be nice to have warm weather all year round???

I just really hate cold weather and it's nice to be able to wear shorts and tshirt at night in Florida.

1. Its only rained 2 days this month so far.
2. Brown? Staring at the beautiful green grass and lake behind my apartment, i beg to differ.
3. That giant swamp is called the Everglades and its quite beautiful if you take the time to explore it.
4. I have yet to visit a city in Florida that does not have left turning lanes. Dunno where you got that from.

If I was given 24 hours to deceide I wouldnt need the other 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds.

Of course most of you who know me know I hate S. Floriduh on the Atlantic side. Was just on the west coast last weekend and what a difference.

Politics, guns and cost of living aside nothing beats SD. I wouldnt move there but if I only had those 2 choices Im gone!

Cool! I lived in Coral Springs before I came to this God awful state of MS. 🙁 My best friend still lives there. How long were you there and what years, Aphex?? Also, some of my family used to live in Pompano but the last I knew they were in Tamerac now. I miss FL so much. *tears begin to flow down cheeks.* LOL

We movied to Coral Springs in 91, and i stayed there till 99 when i went off to college. I went to Stoneman Dogulas, how bout you?

BTW, my parents still live there and i usually go back every two months or so....
