I'm going to be in S. Carolina in a few weeks. What's the weather like? Anything notable I should go visit? Anything I should avoid like the plague?

Charleston and Myrtle Beach are the only 2 things in SC that's worth a crap. Oh yeah you can buy good fireworks there also.

Hilton Head, Beaufort, Kiawah Island to name a few exceptions to your above post.

Myrtle Beach sucks. Greenville and the western mtns are fun if you are into that stuff...especially this time of the year with fall in full swing.

Charleston, Greenville, and possibly Hilton Head (if You're old) are the only decent places in SC. My wife's family has a beach house in Myrtle beach...so I have a pretty good frame or reference when stating it sucks.

Oh yeah...and if you're in Greenville, the BMW Museum is fun and the downtown has a really nice park and lots of great places to go eat. Also...the mtns are only 30mins away...so plenty of pretty driving/hiking up there.

i grew up 20 mins from myrtle beach and i don't think it sucks, it's just not nearly as great as everyone thinks it is.

i just got back from the upstate, the leaves are changing and it's beautiful. took a couple of mountain roads and it was great.

charleston is fun.

Are you from Conway?

Sucks might have been harsh...not worth going out of your way to visit would be more accurate. Charleston is way better though as a place to visit.

This time of the year...I'd definitely be heading to the Upstate/Greenville area. Maybe even got to a Clemson game if you're there over the weekend and get some quality tailgating in.

close, loris. i always told people in college i was from MB because nobody knows where the hell loris is.

and clemson only has 2 more home games, duke and south carolina, but duke is homecoming and would be fun, even though we will probably lose and they have new tailgating areas that aren't as fan friendly.

Mmmm... Chicken Bog. I am about an 1hr and 1/2 (not counting traffic) from Myrtle Beach. I live on one of the main Beach Routes and we get a lot of beach traffic on Fridays and Sundays not bumper to bumper but alot more cars than during the week. I have an Aunt that lives in Conway the has a Beach House at Garden City.

<In Charleston

weather is a little cool, 60 ish. But it is going to be a gorgeous weekend.

Hit up some local BBQ places and get you some mustard based sauce...mmmmmmm....
