I once threw out a gallon of milk that was 8 months old. It had turned into a solid chunk of yellow. I'm pretty sure if I had opened the container and exposed it to oxygen it would have came to life and tried to eat me.

My brother is really bad about not cleaning out his fridge. I usually only visit him once a year. On one visit he still had food and a gallon of milk from our last trip exactly a year before! It was of similar consistency to yours, and we didn't risk opening it.
