Can someone explain why someone would rather have soup over stew? I like meat chunks, it makes me feel like I'm surviving somehow, albeit slowly but atleast i know i got some protein.

Just about 5 minutes ago I chopped up the rest of the Ham from Thanksgiving and stuck a big bone with ham in there and leftover ham fat in a Crock Pot with Great Northern Beans.

Soup beans and ham with corn bread is one of my favorite things. Going to let those cook a nice long time on low.

I've eaten barley soup for 3 days straight. I keep thinking the barley chunks are meat :(

It's hard to dip your grilled cheese in stew.

A proper stew has enough liquid for dunking bread.

A soup is an appetizer, a stew is a meal. You have soup + main course, you would not have a stew before a steak, but you could have a soup before a steak.

Ramen.

That is neither a soup nor a stew. Our Noodly Master resides in a category all his own.

Ramen!

And damn it, now I'm hungry. I can't look at spaghetti, meatballs and garlic bread without wanting some.

USUALLY...stew is vegetables and meat, cut into larger chunks with a thicker gravy-like broth.

Soup is vegetables and often meat, cut into smaller chunks with a much thinner broth.

I like both...but prefer stew. (served over a nice, big bowl of rice.)

Mayne, I'm not sure the difference between stew and soup... But I can tell you the difference between Jam and Jelly.

Your mom also knows the difference very well, too. I told her alllll about it the other night.

I didn't think of the dipping consequences. :(
Look, you Canadian, there is such a thing as an eating utensil and for this we call it a spoon. Simply turn your limp-GCS horizontally and spoon some stew on top. It ain't hard, much like you GCS.
