Soundstorm vs Audigy?

Lonyo

Lifer
I currently have a Soundblaster Audigy Gamer (1), and I've ordered a new mobo (ABit NF7), does the new motherboard have Soundstorm, or is it only on selected boards?
If it does, is soundstorm going to be better or worse than the Audigy?
I have a 5.1 setup, comp. is mainly used for music (128kbs mp3's/wma's at the moment), and for gaming.
Woul dit be possible to have both cards working together, so I have 2 options of soundcard, one can have the 5.1 setup plugged in, and the other some headphones, which would save me fiddling round the back of my PC, or will there be a problem with 2 cards? (beyond having to change which one is in use).

TIA.

1. The NF7-S has Soundstorm.

2. Apparently, the two cards perform equally well, and some say Soundstorm has an edge over Audigy 1.

3. Two soundcards = big no-no.

The Audigy would be the better overall card esp in Games as the SStorm will still use codec unless via digital...Ever since the post SBLive days I have used the Audigy 1&2 cards in Unison with onboard solutions with no problems.

Not true anymore. You can get by with using the onboard and a standalone sound card or sound module just fine. You just need to make sure that you route your outputs correctly.

You don't have soundstorm on that particlular variation of the board.
Even if you did, you would have to use the SPDIF to take advantage of it and then it's a factor of the converters in the speakers.
That means that audigy will own it hands down.
Superior converters.
