i have an audigy 2 zs and am using the appropriate software. i was using it on calibrated 5.1 speakers for a long time, but now i have to use headphone. How to i set it to STAY with headphone? when i goto 'Speaker Settings' and select headphone, it goes on it, and is fine. But when i restart, it is back on 5.1. I tried changing it in the control panel first too, since it's set to be synchronized with control panel, and that sets it to headphones, but again, resets to 5.1 after restart. Any weird option i don't know of hear?
 
1) check for software updates
2) ask in usenet support group: news.creativelabs.com
3) see if 2.1 mode sticks, since that is better anyway as it does not add filtering like the headphone setting
