sounds/movie scenes to test for bass rattle

while going through some movies, i've noticed that i have something rattling in my basement from the bass. it's nothing too drastic but enough that i notice it and want to correct it.

and im talking about when there is an explosion happening or something that is really bassy. like during band of brothers, it happened a few times but it only lasted like a split second or 2.

i already know 1 of them is this plastic cover i have that covers the rear water valve turnoff for my house. i plan to put some foam tape around the border to fix it i just haven't done it yet. when i do hear it rattle, i can press it up and it will hold for a bit then start to rattle randomly here and there.

the other(s) i'm suspecting are from the can lights or something. however i can never pinpoint it because it happens randomly in movies, and when i try to go back to it, it doesn't happen. it only happens when a certain type of bass hits.

so does anyone know of any test tunes or sounds, or movie clips, that have sounds that would rock the bass enough to get rattles to happen for like 15-20 seconds straight so that i can pin point where it is and try to fix it?

you should be able to download a test tone generator, just get a 20-50hz tone and play it on a loop should get the job done

oh shit okay thanks. had no clue about things like that. can generate it then stream to the ps3 and figure it out.

Exactly what I was going to say, get test tone sweep and loop it. Have fun, don't break your house.

😀

If you really want movie scenes, then LOTR Return of the King where the Eye of Sauron crashes is a good one.

so i got a test tone generator and i found at 50hz i could hear the most rattling. i didn't even have my avr loud at all but it still made it rattle a bit.

it came from the least unexpected spot - between the speakers and their stands. pretty much every speaker was making a little rattling noise, and as soon as i put some pressure on it, the rattling went away.

so i guess i need to find some absorbing mats or something to put between them.

just buy some wide black gasket tape. it will work for what you want to do. its basically a foam that will do exactly what you want it to

its also cheap

will that stuff peel any of the paint off if I go to take the stuff off afterwards?
