Sounds like someone has the case of the Mondays :(

subtitle: being a grownup is hard

Maetryx here, 🙁

This is shaping up to be a 12-pack of the Mondays. First, like 90% on here, I'm a night owl. So Monday's are tough because my schedule gets upended on the weekends. Then I get to work so I can do my timesheet, a ridiculous exercise in creative fiction where I have to decide which clients deserve to give the company I work for $60 - $70 per hour of my time. It would be nice if I could just say, "naw, I didn't work that hard, so forget about it". But I can't. My company is leaning on the employees to have higher utilization. It's supposed to be around 65%. I came up with 50%.

Then there is the house refinance papers which have to be signed like 29 times and notarized TODAY. I'm picking up GrimmX at 12:45 so we can go to the bank and get that done. Then they have to be Fed Exed out of state via Overnight delivery. I also have to stop at the post office to mail a package I sold on eBay, and deposit GrimmX's student loan check.

I have to call TWCO and see if they can accept my AMEX card for an item I'm having delivered to my sister in exchange for some work she did on my out of state house that I'm getting a refinance on today. So far I can't get TCWO to accept the payment because the shipping address is not added to the card, but I DID add the address and AMEX told me it was effective right away.

My son has TaeKwon Do lessons tonight and my daughter has a brownie scout flag ceremony (worth a badge) at nearly the same time on different sides of town. FURTHER complicated by the fact that I have to pick my son up from his mom's house on the third side of town to take him to his TaeKwon Do lesson.

I got to go to a staff meeting right now.

Maybe I'm just brain-dead today, but what did he say that merits an ass-kicking? me\<--😕

Maetryx, my bud! Michaeld here! 😎 I have at least one day like this every other week and it usually coincides with the days I pick up my son. Speaking of, I saw him last weekend. First time since Christmas. What a concept! SEEING, actually SEEING my son. I don't know what Broomhilda's problem is...I pay my ransom money every month. 😉

It's hard, being a single Dad. I know...you and I have discussed it plenty o'times.

I hope you got everything done, your daughter won the badge, the mortage company got off your back and AMEX straightened everything out. Now, please get ready for Tuesday. 🙂

<< It's a case of "Not enough hours in the day".

You'd have plenty if you turned off the damn TV once in a while 😉

My week starts on Friday and ends on Tue... it sucks when everybody in the office is doing the Friday slack and I have to finish thier jobs for them....

Don't worry Maetryx... I'm sure you'll get it all done and if you don't that's OK too...

No... oh hell no... I reckon you'd get your ass kicked for not watching Office Space until you memorize the lines!

Well, I've got my timesheet, and the staff meeting out of the way. *phew*. Hey, MichaelD. The guys wanting to kick my ass are correctly playing off my reference to the excellent movie, Office Space. There's an overly cheerful receptionist in that movie who says the quote in my thread title to the main character, which he doesn't receive very well. Later, he talks to a construction worker/neighbor and asks if anyone ever says stuff like that at his job. To which the neighbor indicates that one could expect to get their ass kicked at his job if they went around saying things like my thread title.

Obviously it's quite a lot funnier in the movie 🙂.

If it wasn't a monday, I'd probably look at the bright side: I'm getting my house refinanced at 5-7/8% fixed interest, my wife's student loan is going to slamdunk our Christmas debt, my daughter is earning a brownie scout badge tonight, and my son doesn't have to miss his TaeKwon Do lesson (probably).

That's a little better. More coffee in me and I'll start buying into the bright revision version.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, OK! 😱 I am now enlightened as to the funny stuff in this thread. I guess I deserve a thorough ass-kicking, then? LOL!

If it cheers you up any, I just received a $52 check from AT&T for broadband service that I dropped about 19 months ago. Go figure. 🙂

One last monday update (at least 🙂 ). My son's step-father elected to drive him to his TaeKwon Do lesson (phew!). Me and GrimmX got all the refinance papers signed, notarized, and shipped overnight via DHL to the title company. GrimmX mailed the eBay item for me. I managed to get TCWO to accept my AMEX Blue card for an item getting sent to my sister out of state (it was all my fault in the end, BTW). GrimmX kept the car, so she's taking our daughter to the brownie scout flag ceremony, leaving me at work late to make up for the super-duper-extra-long lunch hour (notary signing).

Oh, and we got the student loan deposited, and I already spent the entire thing on existing bills. Phew. Now *that's* a Monday.

Oh, and to all you kids that still live with your parents: this is why they are stressed all the damn time.

P.S. I *still* have to bring something to a potluck lunch tomorrow at work. Grrrrrrrrrr.

Maybe you should just say screw it, move to a 3rd world country like Belize. Where the average salary is less than 80.00 a month, and live like a king on the pricely sum of cash you currently have. Saying screw you to all the worry. If not you'll find yourself retired and old faster than you can blink with nothing to show for it except maybe a new BMW. Hey, is anyone really impressed by the old guys in BMW's and Porsches? I'm not. Ain't life a kick in the balls.

Ha ha! Now *there's* some perspective on it. True, true. I've got nothing to complain about. Oh the dread plight of the middle class American. 😉
