Any suggestions?

I was thinking of attaching some sound deadening material to the two case sides and mounting all of the fans with rubber washers. Any other suggestions that don't include a massive investment in new quiet fans?

This is in anticipation of the FOP38 on the way...

check that, a Vantec FCE-62540D is on the way - on sale at InflowDirect

I have the same case and just put the FOP38 in, and forget trying make it quiet.

I suppose you could use Dynomat which is used in cars, but it would probably cause your case temps to rise. I ordered a Panaflo L1A cpu fan and case fans to hopefully make it reasonable for my bedroom. The FOP38 is just annoying, and I know what annoying is, I'm married.

Dynamat cancels out metal vibes. Is the noise you are hearing caused by metal vibrations, or air moving? I would think that the only way to cancel out fan noise would be to use less aggresive fans...

One way you can cancle out the noise caused by the massive amount of air moving around is to clean up its route. 4" Dryer housing works great for this/ or try creating duct work with your intake fans. Dynomat works great. It deadens sound, makes the case much more rigid but adds a good amount of wait so I would recomend Dynomating a LAN box. As far as Dynomat keeping heat inside the case... Ofcourse it will... if you let hot air in and like it to stay there. If you have a good flow on the intake to outake and not too much turbulance than the dynomat is gonna keep it frozen as hell in the case. Insulation works both ways. WHy ya see the lil lunch bags usin that padded insulation. Or the beer carriers. HA wish I had one now. ;> Ahh soon enough, soon enough. Hope this clears any misguided ideas or thoughts. I've also heard that cardboard with a lil bubble wrap does a pretty good job as well. but much bulkier than Dynomat. I just bought Dynomat Orignal for 19.99 for 4 sqft. Bought two to cover various other items.
