Soundcard

Hey,

A friend of mine has a HP computer with Windows Vista. Recently his onboard sound stopped working. (Is not detected in operating system). He only uses 2.1 speakers and occasionally headphones.
Will any soundcard (cheap) be sufficent? I'm looking at the Soundblaster Audigy SE

I have that soundcard in my second system with a 2.1 speaker set-up. If he has the slot it will do fine.

If you're not looking for anything special it should be fine. Is he sure that its actually toast? Have the driver's been re-installed, or has it been disabled somehow through the BIOS?
