soundcard and ethernet card question

I just purchased the klipsch 5.1 will the hercules game theatre xp take full advantage of the 5.1 thx speakers? Also I need to buy a couple ethernet cards for the house network i am putting together does it really matter what brand i choose cuz i can pick them up for 5 bucks on ebay but its not a major brand name.

The speakeer set up should work nicely. I dont think you'll be dissappointed. Nothing is not being wasted in that setup.

Just get something like Linksys, D-Link, Netgear if you want cheap NICs... you can probably find them new for like $10, and everyone I know who uses them has been very satisfied...

No-name brand NICs probably work fine too, but you dont get the peace-of-mind of those brand name ones...

The Hercules will only take full advantage of the 5.1 system under DVD playback. Gaming will use a virtual 5.1 setting if you enable it under the current drivers and it does not sound good. Stay away from Netgear if you have a AMD761 based system.
