Soundblaster Problems & Kr7a-Raid

Hi, guys I have the following:

Kr7a-Raid
AMD XP 1800+ (not OC'ed)
Alpha Pal8045 w/Delta 80cfm
Radeon AIW/Voodoo3
2 256mb Crucial 2100
431W Enermax
Lian Li PC60USB case
Pioneer 106s Slot
Maxtor 60 GB ATA 100 7200RPM
Artic Silver2

I am running windows2000 and once I install my soundblaster 5.1 drivers my system becomes quite unstable and locks up. This after I have install Via 4-1's and my display drivers. So I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this problem with soundblaster cards as we saw in the KT133 chipset. Any fixes that I don't know about??

All I can say is, get the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers, the latest SB drivers, and turn that darn hiberante off.

With the KT7A & SB5.1 VIA techs traced it to the "PlayCenter" program. The SBLive5.1 works fine without that in my system.

By hibernate, I assume AkumaBao means ACPI? It's problematic turning that off, U may have 2 reinstall your OS & modify/reflash your Bios. Check the FAQs at AnandTech & ViaHardware.

BTW I run W98 with ACPI disabled, I prefer it that way...

Well I have install all current drivers from Via nd Creative and still my system crashes or kills the display if I "overutilize" the cpu. Further, I have tried all of my PCI slots and see no difference. I am running windows 2000 by the way.

Glad to see you got it up and running. I finally got all of my memory installed too 😉

Anyhow, I am using an X-gamer 5.1 no problems (so far). I did *NOT* install playcenter. All I installed was the XP update that is current on soundblaster.com. I am running in XP. I did have some problems on my previous machine with windowblinds "themes" and some of the creative SW...

Good luck...
