Just curious. How many folks are having or have had problems with SoundBlaster Live cards? Esp. the SB16 Emulation! Maybe we should seek redrees with Creative. It's their fault, not ours!

I have had problems with them in two KT7A Raid boards. This is a conflict between the Raid controller and 16 bit emulation from your sound card. A patch will be comming.

what about all newer cards? does the santa cruz have problems with these Via chipsets (the only ones that appear to have problems AFAIK with soundcards)? what about the Philips Acoustic Edge?

Man, this damned thing...Lots of little annoying probs, like IRQ conflicts and driver probs, but I've gotten them all worked out now. Just new hardware install stuff, except for a quirky driver issue regarding the KT-7 RAID board. But with the correct driver's installed int he right order, no probs.....And even with the new setup headaches, I still wouldnt get rid of this card.....

I was getting IRQ conflicts with SB16 dos emulation and it was slowing down my boot-up quite a bit.

I just went to add/remove programs and uninstalled SB dos drivers and the problems went away.

Just set up my new rig last night with ABIT KT7A-RAID mobo. Transferred my known working Soundblaster Live card to the new mobo. Soundblaster worked fine. Kept installing drivers and stuff. Soundblaster stopped working at some point. Anyone have additional info on why or what to do? Sounds like it might be the RAID controller or some other IRQ conflict.

Chances are it's an IRQ conflict with SB16 DOS emulation drivers. If you don't need sound for DOS programs you can probably uninstall those drivers. On the last box I built I shared an IRQ with LPT 1 printer port. Somewhere in SB Live it gives you that option. That worked for that machine.

Asus A7V, flashed mobo and SB16 screwed up bad, had to replace X Gamer with a Value so that Windows would load diff drivers and stop messing up =\

Here is what I had to do with my SB Live/K7A-Raid/winME with help from creative tech support:

Disable the SB16 Emuluation in the Creative Devices in Device manager
tag sbemulation (or something like that - you will know when you see it) from true to false in ctsyn.ini

If I ever went ot a live, I would keep my sb awe64 gold for compatibility. Other than that, the lack of support in BeOS is the only problem I've ever seen.

I take that back, I have seen one of the value's jiggle out of place in the PCI slot, but it could be the mobo too.
