:Q I had to read through this one a couple of times, but it looks like a HOT DEAL!!!:Q

For about the price of the SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Platinum (NOW $149.99), TigerDirect is selling all of the following as a package:

Blaster 9-Bay Case With Power Supply
Creative Labs Blaster Motherboard (BX chipset,Slot 1)
Sound Blaster Live! Platinum Sound Processor (on Motherboard)
Creative Labs Infrared remote
FM Tuner (in case)

Look at all of those front panel connections and ports! Sweet!!

nah i don't think it is 5.1 Platinum, because the front panel for 5.1 have optical in and out, not this one, also the 5.1 does not have FM tuner ...at least i don't think i have one..

I like this deal, the only problem is the mobo is pretty jurassic... only 100mhz support? udma33? AGP2x? and on and on....
too bad this is not AMD CPU mobo otherwise will be a great deal for me...

This is an interesting product. I wonder how many watts that case has and if that motherboard is any good.

And this thing doesn't have an actual SB card in it but it does have the SB Live chip on it's motherboard so it's still a SB Live... too bad the integrated sound on most new motherboards isn't SB Live.

This could be a decent base for a cheap system.

Hey you guys ! Are you out of mind? This is just an on board sound blaster live processor and an FM tuner chip. And the board doesn't look good at all. When you upgrade the motherboard, the sound blaster live chip is gone and so is the FM tuner chip.

I wouldn't waste my money on such a junk!

<.......sniff.......sniff.......>:(

Sorry guys, I just thought that paying the going price of the sound card and getting a FREE motherboard and a FREE ATX case with a sh!tload of FREE extra stuff was a pretty good deal.

I guess that might be because I don't look at things like this from a standpoint of "Oh wow, now there's a motherboard and case that I'll be holding onto for the next 3 years" but rather from a standpoint of "Oh wow, now there's something unique and different that ought to make me some good profits on e-bay."

......maybe I shouldn't have ordered 10 of these.......

I picked 1 up with 2 900 PIIIs
I'll drop a 1 gigger in there and smile for the price
5.1 is going for this price by itself without the FM tuner.
Who cares about the PSU, just change it
Nice to setup for a system to sell
Toss in a burner and DVD and you should have a kickass box.
Don't like the non ata66?
toss in a scsi card and AGPX2 doesn't matter at the 100MHz bus.
less than 2% hit over AGPX4

Creative makes motherboards?
Woah, now i have seen everything.

I was planning of upgrading my Live! Value to the 5.1 Platinum, but now I dont know. My friend just got a Philips Acoustic Edge, and its built in AC-3 is spectacular. Unlike live, there are cableing for 2front, 2rear, 1center both analog and digital. I actually have no idea on why I need a Platinum for. All the connections I need are on my value, digital out for my MD, Front, Rear, Mic, Line in. The Acoustic Edge seems to offer more than just a soundcard so I will probably go for it. Any thoughts on this board?

ALBundyHere,
>I actually have no idea on why I need a Platinum for.

According to my understanding, which can be wrong, Platinum has a build in Dolby Digital 5.1 decoder and Live! Value does not.

EDIT: Sorry I was thinking of the Live! Value OEM version.

You may want to check out Reseller ratings before you order anything from these guys. It doesn't look good... The system does look interesting though. There doesn't appear to be much info about the Motherboard. I have never heard of Creative making anything like this and could find nothing on their (Creative) website either.
