I understand most will cringe at the notion, but I would like an inexpensive fix for a bit better audio quality then just TV speakers.

Could anyone comment on how well soundbars work? TV Setup is a small room with a 42" tv. The speakers on the TV are mediocre at best, but I didn't want to setup a 5.1 for a small area. I don't know if i want to spend a lot for a 2.1 setup. I know soundbars are not comparable to something like the 2.1 setups but i figured for just watching some TV and movies from time to time a soundbar would fit nicely and at a budget.

Anything is a huge improvement over shitty tv speakers these days. The only exceptions are the Bose Vidoewave :p and some of Mitsubishi DLP sets with what amount to built-in high end soundbars
