Sound wont work after Windows XP SP1 upgrade!

I have just installed Windows XP SP1. The sound worked fine before the update. Now, the sound doesnt work at all. I tried to uninstall and then reinstall the sound drivers, but that did not work. I have a turtle beach santa cruz sound card. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could try to get my sound back. This is a very annoying problem, and I have tried many things already to correct it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try removing the hardware from device manager and then the drivers from add/remove. Then reboot, see if XP recognizes your card. If it does re-insall drivers normally.

I tried doing that and it found the hardware. I uninstalled the drivers and then rebooted and it found the hardware and asked for the drivers. I installed the drivers and did everything correctly, but the sound still doesnt work.

Had the same problem two days after the SP1 download.
My card is a Soundblaster, but problem was fixed after an unistall and reinstall.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for that soundcard.

A drastic last step (well, short of a reformat), would be to do a system restore to prior to the SP1 and then start over from there.

ok thanks slogan. I'll have to try uninstalling and then reinstalling drivers one more time. Hopefully that will fix it, because I really dont want to have to restore it back to before I had SP1.

That did not work. Any last suggestions from anyone of what to try before I do system restore to get my sound back. I really dont want to have to do this since my computer is running faster now. The sound is the only thing I am having trouble with, and it is very annoying.
Anyone have any suggestions?
