Sound & Vision Magazine

Ugh. Another Mercury Magazine offer. Lame.

Last year I signed up figuring I would get just get some free magazines; whilst that did happen I encountered a few annoyances.
1) Spam Mail, they sent me like 3 or 4 emails a week basically "Hey, sign up for this magazine cause it's new and we carry it now." It does has a simple fix of clicking the unsubscribe at the bottom of said email though.
2) This one is highly annoying. I have now started receiving calls from them trying to sucker you in to signing up for s subscription this time. Then they try to send you a "Free Gift" which is like a 3 day vacation to some place; but shortly after that they want your credit card number. Fuck That.

I suppose it may be worth it for "Free Magazines" but I rather just pick one up at a bookstore or similar and just sign up. No hassling phone calls or nothing.

Ummm... use an email account that you don't give a crap about 😕
How did they get your number? I don't remember the sign up page asking for a number, and if it does why would you put your real number in? I don't even use my real name. Might want to chock it up as coincidence, maybe they finally got to your number in the phone book with their automated systems.
I've been doing these free mag subs for a few years now. Hell, my Maxim sub doesn't expire until 2013, and the sub started in 2005 at least. Free toilet reading for some spam is worth it to me.

My cellphone isn't in the phone book and I have no idea either. Just the phone call sounded like a phishing scam.

Edit:
I think they go my phone number through a free Electronic gaming Monthly subscription which on that sign up page requested a phone number. The sigin up was handled by EG themselves I think and they forwarded that info on...

You'd have to be an idiot to use your real phone number and email address.

I've gotten 4-5 free mags from this company. Works every time.

Awesome- thanks! I used an old email address..have never had a problem with these guys before.
