Sound stutters when loading programs

I can't specifically pinpoint when this started occurring, but lately whenever I load anyting, even open up a firefox window the sound will stutter, like if I'm listening to music or something.

I read an article that talked about my IDE controllers not using DMA, but I checked and they are.

I will re-install my chipset drivers when I get home tonight but was wondering if anyone had any other ideas.

I'm on Win 7 64 Bit.
