Sound Storm Problems

Hello everyone,

I have an old Asus A7N8X-DX, with the onboard Dolby Digital Sound Storm chip. It's an XP motherboard, with an AMD 3200+ cpu @ 2.3 ghz.

I just recently did a fresh install of Windows XP Pro, on a raid array. Everything was peachy, until I went into dxdiag and clicked on the Sound tab and then on the ?Test Direct Sound.? The outcome of the test was: ?No problems found? and is still displayed at the bottom of the dxdiag window. However, after running this test, my Nvidia Nforce Control Panel is no longer accessible, the icon no longer in my tool tray (the auto hide function has also ceased working, it seems). If I try to access the Nvidia Nforce Control Panel from the Windows Control Panel, I get the following message:

FxManager Error
Incorrect size returned during FXMANAGER_ALLOCATE!

When I click on this error message, then I get the following error message:

Soundstorm.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close ? send error report?

I sent the error report a couple of times, now, but have received no response.

Please, I?ve had to reinstall Windows 3x now, because of hardware issues ? please, if someone can help me resolve this problem, I?d greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,

John
