Sound quality diff b/w 1/8" and 1/4" jacks?

There's no sonic difference between different types of cables. But are you sure that both of the sockets are line out? The minijack could be a headphone out and then there would be a difference.

The 1/4-in jacks have been around for over 50 years, and have been the standard for pro use. The 1/'8-in jack was developed much later by Sony, and is probably favored by home users. As long as the sources are the same, there is no difference in sound quality that our ears can detect.

Yes, it's headphones out, not line out.

What's the difference between headphone out via 1/4" and regular line out at the same 1/4" ??

1/4 in jacks can handle a lot more power, such as phantom power for microphones, or even some small speaker systems use 1/4. It is also much more durable than an 1/8 in jack.

usually a head phone out will have some sort of gain control, and the line out will not.
