sound proofing trunk help

Hey; my subs in my trunk make my trunk rattle a whole lot. I tried putting this foam weather stripping around the seals where the trunk meets the car, but it didn't help at all. What can you guys think of as some sorts of sound deadeners that i could use to reduce the rattles... ( I know about dynamat, but i'm not aiming to pay the price to get it and have it installed) Thanks

Get the Dynamat from Best Buy and install it yourself. It should cost you around 30 dollars or so. It's really easy to cut and it just sticks on like a sticker. Don't pay anyone to install it for you. Remember to put it behind your license plate, thats an area that always rattles a lot with subs.

You don't need dynamat brand either. There is cheaper stuff you can get. I bought this stuff that was exactly like dynamat, but about half the price. Also Home Depot/Lowes etc has some other stuff that's heavier than dynamat. It's harder to install, but works better apparently. Maybe someone here will have a link for you to find some of that stuff.

yea, when i put subs into the trunk of my car, the only major rattling sound was coming from the license plate holder, i just cut out two pieces of a sponge and stuck em back there

Sound deadening material applied indiscriminately will not help rattles. You need to find each rattle and take care of them individually.

yeah, i've got my liscense plate all taken care of... but there is like no individual findable rattle... i've tried looking for them... its just like some big panel or something in my trunk lid rattling... yeah i thought maybe i'd check home depot for some sort of material like dynamat... i'm still open for more suggestions.

are you gonna put someone in there, so nobody outside can hear them scream? 😉
(i don't know, but a bump hoping you get your answer)

ok, well i'm sure everyone is gonna have a good laugh at this... i got this weather stripping stuff and applied all these strips to the inside of my trunk hoping to absorb the sound... well that did little for my trunk rattles, but i found out the huge rattle i always hear is coming from UNDER my car... i don't think this is too good for my car... but, the official status: nothing worked... even just for the hell of it, i stuffed my trunk with pillows to see what that would do, and the rattling from the trunk didn't go down one bit... lol

lol im seeing a trunk full of pillows 😀
im really interested on what you find cause i have the same problem.
i was told one thing that rattles is the spare tire but i checked and it seems to be bolted down pretty good. right now, my spoiler is coming off so i have to get something to bolt it down tighter cause the bolts aren't holding it anymore and i don't want to drill a bigger hole in it
