I use my primary monitor for general usage, and often place media center on the secondary monitor to watch tv while working/surfing. When a mouse-over occurs on the main display (such as an icon down on the taskbar) the video in media center slows along with crackling/popping sound. If the mouse-over isn't for a very short time, the sound starts screeches and then cuts out.

A list of your hardware would be helpful. It may be that your video card is having trouble handling the the load of both displays. We'll be able to help out more when we know what you've got.

core2 duo e8400 on an asus 750i-sli s775 mobo. asus-made ati 4870 1gb dk edition. Windows vista ultimate 64bit. Typically 8gb crucial ballistix tracer ddr2-1000; currently on 6gb.
I've only ever had flickering before, on this same hardware configuration. the only difference is now my 19" is the primary on the left, and the 22.3" widescreen is the secondary. The flickering I encountered when trying to change the voltage in the power-profiles the card follows on usage. I reverted to the stock settings the beginning of the summer.
I also should note that I use a program called "the maxifier" to allow interaction with the mce screen on the secondary widescreen and still go back to functioning normally with the primary
