My computer has no more sound, now this is most likely the sound card but well here' s the problem.

I had my pc on was playing some stuff on winamp the new version, everything is fine. I leave the computer for about 5 hours and then I go to play winamp again, no sound. The weird thing is the song or file will run for like 3 seconds with no sound then it stops. Nothing will play not Itunes not the cd player nothing.

I would think if the sound card was bad the songs should play, and I would get no sound.

I have uninstalled the card and reinstalled it and checked the speakers and all the connections, and reinstalled winamp and all that. I have ran antivirus and spyware apps.

Anyone know what it could be?

I have windows xp

What are the specs of your computer?
If your motherboard has onboard sound try disabling that in the bios. If that doesn't work, try using the onboard sound, after removing the sound card.

Reinstall sound card drivers. First go into add/remove programs or hardware to remove the sound device. Then reinstall drivers from a disc for from their web site.
