Sound Problems with MX300-- PLEASE help

I recently reformatted my HD, and found myself reinstalling Windows98 SE with out error. I began to install all of my old drivers (saved on a burnt cd before the format) when I got to my Diamond Monster MX300 sound card, the installation went fine but the problems started when i rebooted. I went into DXDIAG to test my direct sound, amoung other things, and upon testing direct sound, the noises i heard sounded ok at first but would aburptly end. Certain sounds would play for as little has half a second before suddenly stopping. I have used 3 different versions of DirectX all with the same results. I have used the same drivers I had before, as well as the Aureal Vortex2 drivers both with the SAME results. I also disabled DOS SoundBlaster Emulation, thinking that could help, it did not. Lastly I even tested my speakers by using headphones which proved that the issue was not with the speakers.. I am almost outta ideas, perhaps it is an IRQ conflict, but I cant say for sure. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks

Well your lucky your computer even boots up. I tried an MX-300 in two via boards and it would lock up the computer as soon as it got into windows and started to play a sound.

You must put the soundcard into a PCI slot that doesn't share IRQs with other mobo resources. Consult the manual for PCI info.
