Sound problem, frequent slow downs and pops, ?

Well recently I have been having problems when I play music, watch a video, or anything that makes a sound. I'll be listening to some music and browsing the internet and my laptop(Acer Travelmate 8100, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834115320 )will slow down for a few seconds and the sound will skip, slow down, or pop. Anyone have a clue what could be the problem?

I've ran all kinds of cleaners, spyware removers, and tune ups and still nothing. I'm running Windows XP Pro, using winamp.
