Sound "popping" in some games

I'm using an MSI rs480's onboard and my audio is "popping". Anyone know a cure for this or what "could be" the problem?

Recent games it has happened in:

Star Wars Republican Commando
SWAT 4

Try lowering the volume in windows and compensating by increasing the volume of the speakers. Sometimes when my volume was set too high [above 75%] in windows, the speakers would pop [this was on an older rig w/ a SB Live 5.1].

I'm sorry I don't have anything helpful to say, but that's a very funny typo.

If your audio is truly host based (onboard almost always is), you may simply be maxing out your CPU and the drivers four your sound handle it without aplomb.
