Sound on MSI K7T Pro 2

I just can't manage to get my Vortex 1 A3d card to work correctly on this board. I've tried nearly every concievable solution but to no avail!! It mainly locks up when, yo my belief, when 3D acceleration kicks in (no probs if sound is off).

Also, the onboard (AC97) sound slows some games and demos down badly, providing graphical glitches, skipping etc. Is it the board, chip, the way I've configured it?

System is with Duron 700 / Maxtor ATA66 / Herc MX Retail.

Either it's the way you configured the onboard sound or it's conflicting with something. Mess around with the onboard sound's settings in the BIOS and see if that fixes it. Not sure what to tell you about getting your Vortex card to work..

Apparently, I've discovered that any card based on the Vortex 1 chipset is incompatible with the KT133 chipset (oh well "sigh" ).

I noticed that you are using the onboard sound - isn't just pathetic? Slows down games, provides glithes etc.

Try using the reference drivers from aureal to get it workimg.

Actually, I only notice a small increase in performance in most games (UT and Quake3) when I disable onboard sound.. I never have any glitches, though. I'm hoping to get a fairly decent PCI sound card pretty soon, though..
