Sound not working.

I can't test the sound out on my computer. The speakers aren't working and whenever something pops up my computer beeps. It's extremely annoying so if anyone knows please answer A.S.A.P..

System Specs:
OS: XP Professional
Processor: AMD 2200+
DX: 9.0c
Ram: 512mb
Video: Nvidia 5200 256mb
Sound: Vinyl Ac97

I'll check BIOS but I have no clue where to get the driver. My cousins looking at the computer right now though so I'll check what kind it is when I get it back.

Go to Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices, and make sure they are not muted or turned off. That will also tell you what your sound system is and from that, you can find the right drivers.

I've noticed your posts in different forums and lastly looking for a case. I have not seen your specs or any indicators that would cause me to run out for parts just yet. What is your system and what are your temps? How have you decided that a new case will solve you're problem?

Right now, my case has no fans and barely any openings for air so it's overheating more rapidly than normal. It's also in an enclosed space for the time being.

OK temps? specs? is it a tower? Can you leave the side open? Can you alleiviate the enclosed space prob? Remove or cut the back of the cabinet? pick up the dirty clothes? etc, etc. New fans are much cheaper than a new case, also if you have a junk system in a new case it is still a junk system, just pretty junk. Don't rush to spend your cash until you know what to fix.
If you want a new case OK. Just be sure the new case will accept the new mobo, cpu, gpu, heatsink, psu, or whatever else you need to fix the original prob.

I got it to work. For some reason the Wizard for installing my Vinyl Ac97 audio drivers took FOREVER, but after the 20 minutes of searching it detected and installed it.

I already made more room for the whole space problem, the side is open for the moment to where I can at least let it breathe for a day or two. My system is junk for now because I just bought a new one for cheap so that I can rebuild it to my specifications. Parents stole my old one...

Thanks all for the help.
