Sound Noises while downloading

It seems like everytime i try to download anything while music is playing (winamp etc..) or a movie is playing, the sound starts to make static , poping noises. I have an asus mother board with sound blaster audigy. I reformatted recently and installed motherboard drivers and sound card drivers i am not sure what i am missing. Thanks for the help in advance.

Are you using the newest driver, the one that's a combination driver? Because I have an old Audigy (1) in this system, and I used to have to use a "fix", to keep it from making popping/crackling noises. But, since I found that newer driver, there are no longer any extraneous sounds with it, ever.

Ya mine is an audigy1 , would i be able to find it on audigy website?
I used the old drivers from the CD the it came with.
