Sound keeps crashing on ECS k7s5a with SB Live

I have an ECS k7s5a MB and a SB live 5.1 card. While playing games, after a while i will get a high pitched noise or static and the comp locks up. I disabled the onboard sound in bios but could not find any jumpers to disable the sound. Any thoughts?
 
You need to disable the built-in sound and MIDI port in the BIOS to fully disable it. Laso, make sure to have the latest driver for the SB. I used to have the same combo and never had a problem.
 
yes, I did install all the game patches. The system will also crash if i disable the sound in the game setup.
