Sound Issue - Need Help

My dad's computer has lost all sound. The sound is built onto his Abit AI7 motherboard.

Symptoms:

1) No Icon in the systray
2) No audio drivers in the device manager
3) Can not change any type of settings as it is as if he doesn't have a sound card
4) Basically the whole system doesn't see any type of sound drivers

I tried reinstalling the realtek sound drivers - but this made no difference and the only thing that still showed in the device manager for sound was stuff like legacy audio drivers and audio codecs.

Any ideas?

I've seen something similar in the past, and in that case, the audio was disabled in the BIOS. Check in the BIOS settings to make sure it is enabled.
