sound going out in games...

ok, for some reason my sound keeps going out in gl and direct3d games. so far its only been in wolfenstein, counter-strike and max payne. i dont know why but, i keep having to reboot to get it working again. its hard to find drivers for my card because diamond sucks to i was hoping someone could help me. i have an msi k7t266 pro2-ru and the latest 4in1 drivers from via. im running windows xp pro with all the updates and my sound card is a diamond monster sound mx300 (aureal vortex 2 engine). my graphics card drivers (geforce 2 ultra) are also up to date. thanks everyone! -davo! ?
 
in wolfenstein, the sound goes out sometimes (although background sounds can still be heard) on some multiplayer maps. i think it's a bug in the game. people complain about it all the time. bringing up the console ("~" key) and typing "/snd_restart" fixes it.

not saying this is your problem, especially since your problem affects other games as well, but you might want to check it out.
