Sound elimination for PCs too

Wouldn't it freakin awesome if someone adapted the technology for noise filtering headphones to PCs? The general way that this works is to use a microphone to record the noise from the PC and then rebroadcast it back out at the correct frequency in order to cancel out the original sound waves using destructive interference. Has any companies done this for comptuers yet? I know that they have done this for headphones, some high end HVAC systems, some airplane associated noises, and even the external car sounds in some luxury cars. The possibilities!
