My new board the Asrock 939Dual seems to have a terrible echo to the sound and with the CSS sound test it shows errors, I tried redoing the audio driver to no avail, what could be wrong here?
 
not a complete solution but a few steps that may help to assess what's wrong..
1. check how sound device is listed in device manager, check its properties.
2. test direct X -->run: dxdiag
3. when it echoes it could be signal from the speakers/Headphoes feeding microphone input. Just for a test mute mic input in control panel
