I can't stand the sound of the onboard sound card, on any motherboard I have tried, so I still use my Audigy2ZS in my main machine. I do not have any issues at all with the vista drivers for the audigy, so far.

I still use my Audigy 2 platinum (3rd system now, about 5 years old). I tried OB sound a while ago and it was terrible - simply awful. But aside from this, I love having the front panel audio connectors for my headset.

Creative is still a pain, their drivers are really bloated. But, it's a little simpler than it used to be with their auto driver update.

i would love to buy an X-Fi card.

but i won't buy hardware that does not support use for Linux as i dual-boot.

will it hardware accelerate OpenAL?
