Sound Cards, Please read

Hey guys, I just got my Abit IT7-Max working and am usining the onboard AC'97 6 channel sound on a pair of Creative FPS4000 or something like that...

Anyway, the when I listen to music I don't hear much of a difference from my Creative Sounds Blaster live! but sounds (like wavs) sound different....sound a little fuzzier I guess.

If I'm gonna go with a PCI sound card, I'm gonna get a new Audigy...is it worth the upgrade, or will I get used to the AC97s?

Hmm... I used the AC97 on my 8KHA+, it suxed @$$ compared to my Audigy, but then again, I was using my AC97 with $.99 speakers... but after I got my Inspires, it still didn't sound as good as the Audigy in EAX and games.

From what I`ve read,

As mentioned in the introduction, the Abit IT7 Max's audio circuitry is based around a Realtek ALC650 sound-chip. The ALC650 supports AC3, and 5.1 Surround Sound, and allows users to hook-in upto six audio channels, including a center base channel.

From a fidelity standpoint, the Realtek AL650 is quite good at what it does, and should satisfy most users.

It`s hard to give an exact opinion on sound quality but it goes something like this, moving up to the Audigy from onboard will give you some improvement ,however are you happy with the onboard sound at the moment or would you be more happy with the many sound cards available that sound slightly better then the SB Live or onboard sound, how much better is down to your ears .
