Sound Card

I installed my sound card about a month ago and it worked fine.
A couple of days ago I noticed there was no sound coming from my speakers. I unistalled the drivers, and the card, I put the card back in and it was recognized, I installed the drivers, and there is still no sound. What could be wrong?

Check your volume control (double click on the speaker in your taskbar) and make sure it didn't get muted or the volume lowered somehow.

If you have a pair of headphones or another pair of speakers, hook it up to the SC and see if you get sound. You can pretty much figure out if the SC's dead or the speakers you're currently using.

Either the sound card or your speakers died. Find out which. Your mobo probably has on-board sound, so uninstall your sound card drivers and then sound card, and then re-enable the AC97 sound, install those drivers, and then plug your speakers into that. If speakers=work, then sound card=dead. If speakers=not work, then speakers=dead. Trial and error.
