Sound card randomly emits loud, annoying BEEEEEP!

I have a SB Live! value, and if i listen to MP3s while doing anything else (ie surfing) then after awhile, the sound card emits a loud beep, and sometimes it will even lock up the computer. If the system does not lock up, however, windows will not properly restart the computer.
Please help ME!!

Any/all input would be appreciated.

There has been a recent bios update that fixes some compatibility problems with the mobo and SB live. Try updating the bios to see if that fixes it.

how do you flash bios? don't think i've ever needed to before.
i d/l the file, but now what?

You need two blank floppies.

Copy those bios update files to a blank floppy diskette, then make another Win98 boot floppy or copy one from Bootdisk.com.

Boot to the Win98 floppy, then switch to the diskette with the Bios update files. Run the .exe file and don't touch anything until it is done (specific instructions can be found where you downloaded the file). It should prompt you to reboot the computer (remove any floppies first).

Are you sure the sound is coming from your sound card (through you speakers) or is it coming from the old built in case speaker? My computer used to do that when I was overclocking too much and then stressing the CPU (playing a DVD movie for instance). Problem solved if I stopped overclocking. BTW this was with an old processor that I have since replaced. You could unplug the case speaker to remove the noise if it is coming from there, but that doesn't keep it from crashing.

my case has no speaker, so it has to be from the sound card.
also, i have iwill kk266-r ... that is all i have to do to flash the bios? i don't want to mess anything up.
I know there are alot of iwill users, so if you've done this, i'd appreciate your help. thanks

ok, stupid question: i am running windows ME... so i have ME boot disk. will this do also?

screw it, too much trouble... so i've just taken out that crappy sblive and i think i'll stick with the onboard sound. Stupid creative.... GGGRrrRR!!!
