Sound Card question

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. I have an anaolg cable extending from the card itself to the DVD RW drive. Headphones are hooked up to the back of the card in the proper port. Whenever the CD spins in the drive, I can hear a faint, high pitched whine in the headphones. When listening to the speakers it is not noticeable. How can I fix this? There is a digital audio port on the back of the DVD drive, would connecting a cable from that directly to the motherboard resolve this? Also, aren't there settings in Windows XP I need to change to enable this? The DVD is made by LiteOn.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Do you even need an audio cable from the Sound Card to a Drive anymore? I don't think so, I think it (the sound) is transfered through the IDE cable now. I'm not sure, but double check me on that.

Mute the input on the soundcard that you have the DVD drive connected to and see what happens.

Oh I see, gonna make it easy on him ay? SHAME ON YOU! heheh

Well for once I thought I may have gotten ONE tech question right, guess it's back to the drawing board.

BTW, when Yoy0 posts about sound troubles, there is no need for anyone else to even post. New custom name is " Sound God ".

Wrong again.

Go to technical support and try to help some guys with real sound problems 😛
I hate the tech support forum.

I hope the tech support forum is under that bridge. There are a lot of people in there that need help for various things.
