I have the Chaintech AV-710. A few weeks ago it stopped outputting the SPDIF signal completely, options in the program for it weren't being displayed at all. You couldn't see the red light like normal at all.

I reinstalled drivers and saw no change. I left it alone for 2 weeks and then remembered the issue, went back to check it and now there is a red light like it should have. The sound card is processing sound and I can get outputs from the other 1/8" ports however not the optical out.

In the volume controls in Windows the option for the SPDIF settings is grayed out and I can't adjust the slider for it and so I don't think the drivers are acknowledging it or something. In the program for the audio card the options are not grayed out like before.

Any ideas?
 
don't forget to install the latest drivers downloaded from Via arena, the drivers included on the CD are very old
